When we make promises to ourselves
The first thing we tend to rely on is willpower. This time I’ll be more consistent. This time I won’t quit.
But willpower doesn’t last very long. It fluctuates with energy, emotions, and unexpected events.
I know this from experience
I stopped boxing after injuring my hand three times. I paused personal training after a heavy leg day—and slipping on icy streets the next morning. I quit squash because of chronic knee pain.
Every time, I framed it the same way. I wasn’t disciplined enough. I wasn’t tough enough.
But now, I see it differently
Maybe the problem wasn’t my willpower. Maybe I kept choosing a tempo that didn’t fit my life’s rhythm.
Most fitness programs optimize the session itself
Intensity. Duration. Burn.
But life continues after the session ends. Work, sleep, recovery, the next day’s energy. That’s where routines quietly fall apart.
So I’m no longer asking
“Which workout is the best?”
Instead, I’m asking a different question: Is this tempo sustainable—for my life, right now?
Over the next 8 weeks
I’ll experience different movement styles and observe how each tempo affects my daily rhythm—not just during workouts, but between them.
This isn’t about ranking exercises
It’s not about giving recommendations.
It’s simply an attempt to understand where sustainable rhythm actually begins.
If you’ve ever started strong and slowly faded without knowing why, this experiment is for you too.
